description of the award recipient's nomination and service to foreign language
education.
The Pro Lingua Award acknowledges an individual
outside the field of foreign language education who has fostered the study of
foreign languages in our state and/or in our nation and who has been outstanding
in his/her support for languages and global education.
Pro Lingua Award Committee and Nomination Guidlines:
- The FLAND President appoints the Pro Lingua Award
Committee.
- The Past President of FLAND is the committee chair.
- The award will be a framed certificate and does not
have to be awarded every year, nor is it limited to one person per year.
- The nomination must be in writing and submitted to
the Chairperson by February 15.
- The nominee may be someone outside the field of
education.
- The candidate must have actively promoted foreign
language study and/or international exchanges and understanding at the local,
state, or national level.
- The nomination must include a description of the
candidate's contributions, activities, service and leadership which have led
to this award.
- The nomination must also include letters of
reference from at least three people who can testify that the candidate has
demonstrated support for language and global education.
- Four (4) copies of each nomination should be sent to
the Committee Chair.
- The 2009 Committee Chair is Dawn Pearson.
