To complete the Jamestown College application process, you will need to submit documents that prove your ability to succeed academically and that you have sufficient funding to cover financial obligations.
For the academic requirements, you will need to submit your application for admission as well as all official high school and post-secondary, if applicable, transcripts, written in English. We also require a TOEFL or IELTS score. Our required minimum TOEFL score is 525 paper, 195 computer or 70 Internet-based. Our required IELTS band score is 5.5. We will accept either SAT or ACT scores in lieu of the TOEFL. Our required minimum combined SAT score is 850 and our required minimum ACT composite score is 18. If English is your country’s native language and you are unable to complete a standardized test, please submit a letter indicating why you are unable to complete a standardized test. You can email this letter to me (please make sure your name is typed on the letter) when you submit all application materials.
For the financial requirements, you will need to submit a declaration of finances form. You can download this form from our website. It is advisable to obtain two originals of this document, since you will also need it when applying for a visa. We have established a link to the American Embassies on our website to enable you to access your country’s embassy to find out what they require for visa application.
The total cost of tuition, fees, room and board for the 2007-2008 school year is $16,155 and for the 2008-2009 school year is $19,885. This total cost usually increases each year. Our financial aid for international students is rather limit. On average, as an international student, you will need to be able to provide approximately $15,000 per year for tuition, fees, room and board after scholarships and campus employment are deducted from your total cost. In addition, you will need funds for books (usually about $1,200 per school year), personal expenses, and transportation. Also, Jamestown College requires all international students to have health insurance. You may purchase this insurance in the United States for about $80 per month.
There is no official deadline; however, we would encourage you to submit the application materials as soon as possible because the admission process for international students is a long one, requiring several months. Once the application for admission, TOEFL scores, transcripts, and declaration of finances form have been received, a financial aid award will be mailed to you if you are accepted for admission. If you find the award acceptable, please return one signed copy to our office along with your deposit of $200. An I-20 will be mailed to you upon receipt of your signed financial aid award and deposit. If you are unable to secure a visa, your deposit will be refunded to you. You will also need to complete a form I-901 and pay a $100 nonrefundable fee for processing your I-20, which is required by the United States government. You will be sent instructions for completion of this form with your I-20.
Thank you for your interest in Jamestown College.
