- A student must be officially admitted to a degree-granting program at Jamestown College and making satisfactory academic progress to receive federal financial aid through Jamestown College. (See college catalog.)
- All financial aid has been tentatively awarded based on application documents, verification of information, anticipated tuition assessment per registration periods, college enrollment, grade level, academic progress, and aid sources as printed on the most recent award letter. Any changes in these items may result in an award revision.
- Funds must be used solely for education related expenses as defined by the US Department of Education.
- All students applying for any federal and/or state financial aid must attest to Selective Service status before funds will be disbursed.
- Financial aid will generally be available to students on a prorated basis of 50% each semester and the student’s account will be credited accordingly.
- No aid may be disbursed to a student if he/she is in default on any federal/state aid program.
- Any balance due on the student’s account after applying all grants and other credits is payable before the beginning of the next semester (unless prior arrangements have been made with the Business Office). In addition, the student may be required to pay any reasonable charges, including attorney’s fees for collection.
- All federal/state awards are based on the receipt of sufficient funds from the awarding sources. Insufficient funding will result in awards being reduced and/or canceled at the discretion of the Financial Aid Office.
- Awards are canceled by non-use and/or failure to follow dictated procedures as described in this bulletin and/or the Catalog under which the student enrolled.
- Students must report all outside scholarships, grants, work stipends, or other educational benefits not specifically listed on the Student Aid Award notice.
- Jamestown College awards and/or Reward loans will generally be reduced when a student changes residence status (on-campus versus off-campus).
- Academic scholarships are reduced by 25% during the semester in which a student is placed on academic warning or probation.
- The Financial Aid Office is required to make adjustments to ensure that aid does not exceed the college approved student budget.
- A student must return all necessary documents to the Financial Aid Office before funds will be disbursed to the student. If selected for the verification process, recipients of any federal/state aid must submit parents’ and/or students’ signed copies of the prior year’s U.S. income tax returns. If no tax return was filed, the parent and/or student must mark and sign the non-file affidavit on the Verification Worksheet and submit to the Financial Aid Office. No federal or state aid will be disbursed to a student if selected for verification and the student/parent refuses to complete the verification process.
- Federal work-study is an award. However, credit will not be given until the work has been completed. Students may pay the entire bill (no work assumed) and receive monthly checks in compensation. Student work paid with Jamestown College money does not affect a student's eligibility for other awards. The student who has been granted work understands that Jamestown College will establish the work schedule following the student’s confirmation of his/her class schedule.
- To be eligible for full financial aid, a student must carry a minimum of 12 credits per semester. A student taking less than 12 credits may be eligible for some federal aid programs on a prorated basis.
- All Stafford/PLUS and Alternative loan recipients agree to endorse and release their checks to the College if any direct educational costs are outstanding at date of receipt.
- If a student withdraws from Jamestown College or drops below full-time status prior to the end of the semester, he/she may be required to repay federal grant and/or loan programs. A detailed RETURN OF TITLE IV FUNDS POLICY is on reverse side.
- The student is required to sign and date the original award letter and return it in the enclosed envelope.
- An administration fee of $100 may be assessed should a student request preparation of a Consortium Agreement with another college/university.
- Jamestown College Academic Scholarships have retention criteria which will be monitored after each Spring semester.
- Wilson, Mel Arnold, Presidential, Valedictorian/Salutatorian, Honor, and Trustee Scholarships require 3.00 Cumulative GPA;
- Deans and Heritage Scholarships require 2.50 Cumulative GPA; and
- Jamestown College is not obligated to replace lost merit scholarships.
