| The Bottom Line? Jamestown College is Affordable! |
| |
| As a prospective student, we want you to know that a quality education is within your reach! |
| |
| Many families do not even consider a quality private education because they do not get beyond "sticker shock." In fact, for many students and their families, a private education may be the best value! Jamestown College's cost, before financial aid is awarded, is about half the cost of many other private, four-year colleges. |
| |
| Nearly 100 percent of our students receive some form of financial aid. Our aid packages are based on individual need as well as on academic merit, leadership and special talents. We encourage you to apply for both Jamestown College and federal aid. |

He established this scholarship to demonstrate his loyalty to and affection for Jamestown College. Agnes Sheldon Griffin, sister of Lloyd Sheldon, developed an affection for Jamestown College through her brother’s association with the college. After careers in education and public service, she and her husband formed Griffin Enterprises and began developing property throughout the greater Seattle area. Agnes passed away in January, 2008, leaving funds to Jamestown College which helped to establish this scholarship. |

|
| |
| Federal loan programs |
| |
- Jamestown College participates in the federally-funded Stafford, Perkins and PLUS loan programs.
- FAFSA results will determine eligibility for Stafford and Perkins loans.
- You pay no interest or principal on federally-subsidized loans until six to nine months after graduation, withdrawal from college or until your course load is less than six credits. Interest on unsubsidized loans accrues while you are in college, but the principal is still deferred.
|
| Loan Limits: |
- The Stafford Loan limit for freshmen is $3,500 beginning in the fall of 2007. The Stafford limit for sophomores is $4,500, while juniors and seniors can borrow up to $5,500. Unsubsidized loans are an option for those not eligible for the subsidized loan program.
- The Perkins Loan annual limit is $4,000 with an interest rate of 5 percent.
|
|
| In order to borrow funds through the Stafford Loan or Perkins Loan programs, students must complete entrance counseling. If you have both Stafford and Perkins loans, you must complete entrance counseling for each type of loan. To do so, please click here: mapping-your-future.org. |
|
| |
| Alternative Loans |
| |
| Jamestown College has applications available from financial institutions to offer alternative loans to assist in paying the family contribution. These loans are for the student or parent and usually require a credit check. Having a co-signer for the loans may reduce fees. |
|
| |
| Employment |
You also may qualify for campus employment. Two programs, one under federal guidelines and the other through Jamestown College, enable students to perform a variety of jobs: office work, residence hall maintenance, food service, custodial help, lab assistance, tutorial services and more. Your earnings from campus employment are intended to offset educational charges.
Early application is encouraged, as we have a limited number of jobs for new students.
