*   For games you are only allowed to have as many males on the court as females. For example, if only two women show up, only two men will also be allowed to play. *   Your game referees will enforce standard volleyball rules during matches.
*   A forfeit will be awarded 7 minutes after the match is to have started if your team has not appeared.  Forfeits will be scored as 2-0 losses.

Intramural Basketball Rules

  • Standings:Teams will be ranked by won/lost record to determine playoff teams
  • A second forfeit by any team during the season will eliminate them from playoff competition.  The way to avoid a forfeit if you know you are going to be short of players is to contact Coach Clark at least 2 days before the scheduled game so the other team involved has time to be notified.  Also, perhaps small changes can be made in the schedule with enough notice.

  • Referees and Officials will not be abused. Players will be allowed to ask the official a question regarding rules interpretations, as long as it does not interfere with play, but officials do not need to take verbal abuse from any player and judgement calls are not reversible.
  • Standard basketball rules will be used, some but not all including:
+  3 seconds in the lane is a violation
+  Kicking ball intentionally is a violation
+  Travelling & Double Dribbling are violations
+  Over and Back is a violation
+  3 points awarded for shot behind the arc

League Play
All players are expected to make call in their own games.  An official to help in making calls will be provided when possible.

Matches will be a best of three series (both in league and tournament).

The beginner bracket games will be limited to 10 minutes per game, highest score wins the game.

The intermediate bracket games will be limited to 15 minutes per game, highest score wins the game.

The advanced bracket games will be limited to 20 minutes per game, highest score wins the game.

All of these time restraints are based on availability of courts, if more time can be allowed per game it will be done.

League games will be played on Sunday nights unless arranged by both players to play on a day other than Sunday.  These games arranged outside of Sundays must be played in the next week before the next Sunday.

The league will be run on a ladder system; initially everyone will be placed in a rank based on experience.  A person can move up the ladder by playing people higher in rank than you.  A person can only challenge the two people above their own rank.  A person is allowed two refusals during the entire league play.  People at the top of their bracket can challenge the lowest rank on the next bracket up.  Winners of challenge matches take the spot of the person they beat, the losers drop one rank spot.  Challenge games are only played outside of Sundays to allow for the scheduled games to be played then.  Games played on Sundays will not raise or drop you rank but count as wins or losses to be used in conjunction with rank to determine tournament spots.

All games played must be reported to Luke Snyder or Coach Clark.
