| Carrie (Nace)
Price was inducted into the Jamestown College
Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 18, 1999. In her four
years with the Jimmie Track and Field program, Carrie (Nace) Price quickly
raced out in front. She is the only team member ever to be selected
by her team as "Teammate of the Year" for four consecutive
years. Carrie is on the Jimmie "Top 10" list in five
events: High Jump, Long Jump, 100 Meter Hurdles, 400 Meter Hurdles,
and Heptathlon. Carrie was an integral part of teams that captured
every NDCAC Indoor, NDCAC Outdoor, NAIA District 12 Indoor, and NAIA
District 12 Outdoor Championship that was held during her years of
competition at Jamestown College.
Carrie found success in the hurdles in her freshman year, placing in
the 60 meter hurdles in the NDCAC Indoor meet and in both the 100 Hurdles
and 400 Hurdles in the NDCAC Outdoor meet. She was part of the NAIA
District 12 winning 4 x 100 meter relay and also placed in the heptathlon,
high jump, and 400 hurdles.
Carrie ran on a championship 4 x 100 relay team as a sophomore.
The mark of 47.97 set in 1989 is still a school record at the date of her
induction in 1999. The record was set in placing 7th at the NAIA
National Meet in Azusa, California. Carrie won the 400 meter hurdles at
the NAIA District 12 meet, qualifying for the national meet where she ran
a time of 64.04. Carrie swept the conference hurdle races, winning the 60
meter hurdles indoors and both the 100 hurdles and 400 hurdles outdoors.
She also captured second place in the District Heptathlon with 3,884
points.
Carrie's junior year saw her placing either first or second in 17 of 20
events in which she competed in the NDCAC conference and NAIA District
Championship meet competition. In the indoor conference meet, Carrie won
the long jump, while placing second in the high jump, 60 meter hurdles,
300 meters, and 4 x 240 meter relay. She won the long jump again at
the outdoor conference meet, while finishing second in both hurdles races
and the 4 x 100 relay. Carrie placed in six events in the first NAIA
District 12 Indoor Meet in 1990, winning the 55 hurdles and 4 x 240 relay.
She placed second in the long jump and 4 x 400 relay, third in the high
jump, and sixth in the 300. In the outdoor District Meet; Carrie won the
100 hurdles and placed second in the heptathlon, long jump, 4 x 100 relay,
and 800 medley relay. She also placed third in the 400 hurdles.
Carrie completed her Jimmie career by setting a career scoring record
of 765 1/2 points which still stands at the time of her induction.
Carrie reached one of her goals by earning All-America honors in the 60
yard hurdles by placing 6th at the NAIA National Indoor Championships in
Kansas City, Missouri in a school record time of 8.34 seconds.
Carrie continued her dominance in NDCAC competition, placing in six events
in the conference indoor meet - winning the indoor 55 meter dash, placing
second in four events and fifth in another. In District 12 Indoor
competition, Carrie won the 55 hurdles and placed second in the long jump,
high jump, and 300 meters to go along with a third in the 4 x 400 relay.
Carrie won the 400 meter hurdles in the NDCAC outdoor meet in a time of
63.55, while capturing seconds in the long jump and two relays.
Carrie had one of her most productive performances at her final NAIA
District 12 outdoor championship, winning the long jump, 100 hurdles, 400
hurdles, and running on two second place relay teams. Carrie
finished her senior season by advancing to the semifinals in the NAIA
National 400 meter hurdle race, running a time of 63.51. She also
ran a leg on the Jimmie 4 x 400 relay team at nationals. Carrie
still holds Jamestown College School records in the 400 meter hurdles
(63.51) and the 100 meter hurdles (14.50). Carrie had career best
marks of 18'3" in the long jump, 5'4" in the high jump, and 3984
points in the heptathlon.
In 1999, at the time she enters the Jimmie Hall of Fame, Carrie is a
full-time Physical Education teach and and Athletic Director at Foothills
Community Christian School, a private school in Great Falls, Montana. She
serves students ranging from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade at the
school with an enrollment of 150. Carrie also coaches track and
field and assists with volleyball and basketball. Carrie completed a
year of graduate work at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD and has
resided in Great Falls the remainder of her time since her graduation from
Jamestown College in 1991. She stays active in church choir, drama
productions, teaches vacation bible school, and plays coed church
softball. She and her husband, Mike Price, together enjoy racketball,
volleyball, rollerblades, biking, tennis, golf, and wallyball. |
