Christy (Dockins) Olsen was inducted into the Jamestown College Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 7, 2006.  In her four years at Jamestown College, Christy competed in cross country, track & field, in fastpitch softball, and even earned a letter in basketball.

Cross Country:
Christy began her career with in impact, as she was chosen MVP and Rookie of the Year of the Jimmie cross country team in her freshman year.  Christy would also be chosen Co-MVP of the cross country team in her senior season.  Christy finished her career as the second leading scorer in JC cross country history, behind only teammate Andrea Ellanson (who is still the leader) and Christy still ranks 9th on the list 13 years after her final season of competition - despite missing at least two certain opportunities to run at NAIA nationals due to athletic injuries.  Christy finished second in the NDCAC meet as a freshman, missed her sophomore conference meet due to injury, placed 5th in her junior season, then capped her career by winning the NDCAC individual championship in her senior season.  Christy earned two opportunities to compete in the NAIA National meet, finishing 100th in 1991 and 77th in 1993 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Christy recorded a career best 5000 meter cross country time of 18:47. Christy was also selected to the NAIA Academic All-America team in 1993.

Track & Field:
Christy seemed to be always warding off the effects of and rehabilitating from injuries, while competing in both track & field and softball in the Spring.  With a limited number of races, Christy helped lead her Jimmie team to three NDCAC Indoor and three NDCAC Outdoor championship, along with two NAIA District 12 team championships.  Christy was able to get back on the track full time in her senior season and she made the most of it.  Christy earned All-America honors by placing 2nd in the NAIA Indoor Two-Mile run in 10:56.26 and 5th in the Mile run in 5:05.25 in Kansas City.  Christy then finished her career with a 5th place performance in the 5000 meters in 17:38.66 at NAIA Outdoor Nationals at Azusa, California for her third All-America honor.  Christy was the NDCAC Indoor champion in both the 1500 and 3000, breaking the conference record in the 3000.  Christy then won the 3000 at the NAIA District 12 Indoor meet, breaking the meet record.  Christy wrapped up her last NDCAC outdoor meet with a championship in the 5000 meter run.  Christy had twelve first place finishes in her senior season and was the third leading scorer on the Jimmie team.  Christy ended her Jimmie track career with school records in the 3000 meters (10:11.67), 5000 meters (17:38.66), and in the indoor 1500 meters (4:44.51).  All three of those school records still stand at the time of her hall of fame induction in 2006.  Christy was honored as a NAIA Academic All-American in track & field in 1994.

Softball:
Christy was named to the NDCAC All-Conference Team as a third-baseman and helped lead her team to the NAIA National Tournament.

Christy (Dockins) Olsen now:
In October of 2006, at the time she enters the Jimmie Hall of Fame, Christy is the head cross country coach at her hometown high school - Natrona County High School in Casper, Wyoming.  Christy joins a former high school teammate at Natrona - Carrie (Nace) Price - in the JC Athletic Hall of Fame.  Christy graduated from Jamestown College in 1994 with degrees in Elementary Education and Secondary Physical Education.  Christy is in her 13th year of teaching at Natrona.  She has coached the cross country team for 12 years.  She has also coached volleyball, cross country skiing, and track & field.  Christy was named conference cross country coach of the year in 2003.  Christy is married to Bryan Olsen, who also is a teacher and coach at Natrona.  Bryan and Christy have two children, Ryan and Molly.  Christy said in her induction bio, "I have truly been blessed with the opportunity to work with some of the best student-athletes in Casper over the past 12 years.  The highlight of my life since graduating from Jamestown College has been marrying my husband, Bryan, and raising our two Children, Ryan and Molly.  They have taught me about the true meaning of life."

Coach Clark said about Christy's Induction:
"
When you recruit someone, you hope they adjust to college, have some success in the classroom, find a work ethic, develop a sense of purpose and some discipline, and learn about the hard work it takes to compete against other college athletes.  A lot of times you hope that happens in their second or third year, or certainly before they leave or graduate. When I recruited Christy Dockins out of Casper Natrona HS in 1990, I knew she was a good runner and everyone recommended her highly.  What I didn’t know is that she already had all these qualities.  She was ready to compete when she got here. The only concern that was troubling is that she had a tendency to get hurt.  Her record speaks for itself, but what you don't see is all the hard work, therapy, and discipline it took for Christy to get those relatively few precious opportunities to excel.  The record also does not show you the tremendous amount of respect and admiration that Christy earned from her teammates, friends, professors, and coaches. She always got up one more time than she was knocked down."
