Kristin Erickson Burich came
to Jamestown College in the Fall of 1981 from Mott Lincoln
High School in Mott, North Dakota.
In basketball, Kristin - a 6'0" center - was an
immediate starter and impact player. She was named to the
All-WACND (later NDCAC) basketball team all four years -
the only Jimmie ever to be so honored. Kristin was also
named to the All-District team in her senior year.
Kristin set a WACND playoff record by averaging 15.5
rebounds per game in playoff competition in 1983 and was
named to the NAIA Academic All-American team for
basketball in 1985. Kristin led her team to three
conference championships and its only appearance at the
NAIA National Basketball Tournament in 1984 in Cedar
Rapids, Iowa.
"In Track and Field, Kristin has an even more enviable
record", says Coach Jim Clark, "Kristin was the WACND High
Jump Champion eight times - four conference indoor titles
and four conference outdoor championships. She also
claimed the NAIA District 12 High Jump championship in
three of her four years of competition. Kristin helped
lead her team to four WACND Indoor Championships and three
WACND Outdoor Championships.
Kristin became a two-time All-American in Track & Field
for Jamestown College. In her freshman year, Kristin
captured 4th Place in the NCAA Division III National Meet
in naperville, Illinois, with a leap of 5' 4 3/4". Then
as a senior, Kristin placed 2nd in the High Jump at the
NAIA National Meet at Hillsdale, Michigan, with a jump of
5' 7". Her second place finish helped Jamestown College
to its highest team finish in NAIA Nationals, a 7th place
showing.
Kristin holds the Jamestown College school record in
the high jump at 5' 8". She also holds the WACND Outdoor
record at 5' 8" and the NAIA District 12 record at 5' 7".
In her career, Kristin competed in the high jump 40 times
and placed first 31 times, including national meet
competition. Kristin finished her career as the 4th
leading scorer in Jimmie Track history. In her senior
season, Kristin competed in the high jump eleven times,
winning ten times and finishing second only at NAIA
Nationals. She qualified for and competed in nationals
all four years.
Kristin was named to the NAIA Academic All-America team
in 1983, 1984, and 1985 for Track & Field.
Kristin graduated with a major in Computer Science and
minors in Chemistry, Math, and Biology. She was employed
by Unisys in Minneapolis as a computer analyst at the time
of her induction. Kristin married Bob Burich on August
22, 1987. Bob also works as a computer analyst at
Unisys. |
