Rhonda (Woehl) Secor - Class of 1990

Rhonda (Woehl) Secor quickly established herself as a dominant figure in Jamestown College women's cross country and track and field after graduating from Wishek High School in 1986.  Throughout her career, Rhonda seized a grand total of eleven conference titles; two in cross country and nine in track and field.

In cross country, her consistent performances contributed to four consecutive NDCAC conference team titles and two NAIA District 12 championships.  Rhonda was the NDCAC individual champion in cross country in 1988 and 1989 and was on the All-Conference team all four years.  Rhonda earned three trips to cross country nationals, finishing as high as 66th.   During her career at Jamestown College, Rhonda amassed 1,539 points in cross country (a point for every runner beaten), making her the all-time Jimmie point leader at the time of her graduation.  Rhonda was selected to the NAIA Academic All-America team for cross country.

At the culmination of her Jimmie track & field career, Rhonda had chalked up a total of 434 points, to rank 6th in school history at that time.  For three consecutive years, Rhonda dominated the 800 meter run in the NDCAC conference indoor meet.  She also won the 1500 meter title indoors.  In both her Junior and Senior track and field seasons, Rhonda completed triple victories in the NDCAC outdoor conference meet with championships in the 800 meter run, 1500 meter run, and 3000 meter run.  Rhonda captured six NAIA District 12 individual titles in events ranging from 600 meters to 1500 meters.  She also ran a leg on winning 4 x 800 meter relay teams for three straight years in NDCAC action.  For three of Rhonda's four years of competition, the Jimmies won the NDCAC Indoor and Outdoor Championships, along the the NAIA District 12 title.  In her junior and senior track seasons, Rhonda won championships in all ten of her individual races in NDCAC Indoor and Outdoor Conference competition.

Rhonda earned three trips to NAIA Nationals in track & field.  The pinnacle of her career occurred in her senior year when she placed fourth in the 1000 yard run and fourth in the Mile Run at the NAIA National Indoor Meet, earning All-America status in both events. Rhonda's best times in track included:  800 meters (2:16.89) and 1500 Meters (4:39.66).  At the time of her induction, Rhonda ranked 4th on the Jimmie all-time list in the 800 and 3rd in the 1500.  Rhonda also earned NAIA Academic All-America honors for track & field.

Following her Jimmie athletic career, Rhonda remained active by taking up the sport of women's competitive body building.  She won the lightweight and overall titles in her first competition in 1996, and later that year, placed 3rd in the open lightweight division at the Rocky Mountain Bodybuilding Championships.

Rhonda worked for nine years as a career counselor and job developer for adults and students with learning disabilities.  When her son, Benjamin Glenn, arrived; she decided to be a full-time Mom.  She aspires to get her master's degree in special education someday and later teach and coach.  But for now, she and her husband Matthew (class of 1991) are enjoying their family time.  Rhonda's parents are Don Woehl of Redfield, SD (formerly of Wishek, ND), and the late Gardenia Woehl.
