Dakota Athletic Conference announces All Conference & Post-Season Awards for football

(Dickinson, ND) – Conference champion Black Hills State placed seven players on the All Dakota Athletic Conference Football First Team, while co-runner-up Jamestown College placed ten men on the top honor squad.

Black Hills State also received two of the three Post-Season Awards.  Defensive back Tanner Tetrault was chosen as the Most Valuable Player and John Scott was selected the Coach of the Year.  Jamestown running back Eric Dirk was picked as the Most Valuable Senior.

Coach Dosch's comments on the Jamestown players:

1ST Team:
RB and DAC Most Valuable Senior Eric Dirk: “Eric has been a workhorse for us for 4 seasons, culminating with a great senior year. He has gotten tough yards game in and game out, and he has also made himself very effective in pass protection and as a receiver. In addition, he has developed and matured as a person, and has become one of our team leaders.”

OL: Robert Spencer: “This is Robert's 3rd straight season as an All-DAC player, and he has made several All-American teams, as well. He had a great career and good senior year, and he was a dominant and physical blocker for us on the Offensive Line.”

OL: Elliot Sims: “Elliot was our best and most consistent lineman game in and game out for 10 games. He has played Guard, Center and Tackle during his career at Jamestown College, and he has made himself into a very good offensive lineman;”

TE: Tyler Stowers: “Tyler might be our most valuable offensive player because of all the things which he does for our offense. In addition to leading our team in receiving, he was a very good blocker and one of our team leaders. He made big catches for us game after game.”

LB: Casey Conway: “Casey was one of many great leaders and players on our defense, which led the league in scoring defense, total defense, rushing defense and pass defense. His physical play, aggressiveness and knowledge of our scheme made him one of the better defensive players in the DAC.”

DB & Punt Returner Jake Stoltz: “Jake has been our best cover corner for three seasons, and he has become our best defensive back overall. In addition, he was a big weapon as a return man, with 6 punt returns over 30 yards, 2 touchdowns and one kickoff return for a touchdown, and he currently leads the nation in punt returns. He was a big-time player for us this year, making several game-changing plays in the process.”

DL: Ralph Barber: “Ralph was our most explosive and productive defensive lineman. He made several big plays for us throughout the year, did a great job within our scheme, and was one of our defensive leaders.”

K: Bryan Loweree: “Bryan currently owns schools records for most career field goals, consecutive PAT's and season field goals. He led the DAC in kick-scoring this year, and he did a great job for us on kickoffs and when called upon to punt.”

Punter Tanner Kelting: “In addition to being our starting quarterback, Tanner has led the DAC in punting each of the last two seasons. He drives the ball very well, is very effective punting into the wind, and places the ball in good spots for our coverage team.

2nd Team

OL: Adam Pfau: “Adam was a consistent, reliable player who was tenacious and unrelenting every play. A major reason we had 3 of the top 7 rushers in the DAC.”

DL: Tim Moch; “Tim does a great job as our Noseguard as a 2-gap player. He has a great motor, plays with an edge and goes extremely hard on every down.”

LB: Spencer Stowers: “Spencer has turned himself into a good linebacker by hard work, a great attitude and unrelenting effort every snap. He was our second leading tackler, and one of our defensive leaders.”

DB: Gary Thomas: “Gary came into is own as the season progressed. He was our third leading tackler, and brought physical play and explosiveness to the position.”

DB: Ryder Weischedel: “Ryder has had an outstanding career here at Jamestown College. He tied for the team lead in interceptions and he did a great job with coverage checks and alignment for our entire secondary. He was one of our defensive and team leaders who worked at an unbelievable pace for his entire career. In addition, he has been an academic all-American each of the last two seasons.”

Honorable Mention:

OLB: Andy Van Berkum: “Andy was a four-year starter, who had a great understanding of our defense and found a way to the football play after play.”

WR: Rob Hummel: “Rob has been a steady, consistent player for four seasons who made many big plays as a receiver and blocker. He was one of our team leaders on and off the field, and he has been an academic all-American each of the last two seasons.”

DL: Mike Stowers: “Mike was a solid, play after play guy for us for 4 seasons. He had a great knowledge of our scheme, and worked very hard to make himself a good player in the DAC. He led our team with 4 Quarterback Sacks as a senior.”

OL: Sid Mann: “Sid was a three-year starter, who overcame injuries early this season and came on strong as the season progressed. He helped pave the way for the leading rusher in the DAC this year.”
