 Ten Receive DAC Honors  11/14/2008
 
 
Ten members of the 2008 Jimmie Football team have received Dakota Athletic Conference post-season honors. The Jimmies finished the DAC with a 5-2 record, 7-3 overall.

Named to the first team are: Josh Kittell (quarterback, senior, Garrison, ND), BJ Etzold (wide receiver, junior, Jamestown, ND), Clint McGovern (offensive line, junior, Mora, MN), Tim Moch (defensive line, senior, Edgeley, ND), Dustin Erbes (safety, sophomore, Colfax, ND), Evan Twedt (linebacker, senior, Fegus Falls, MN), and Nate Nygard (kicker, freshman, Fargo, ND).

Named to the second team are: Jay Tweed (running back, junior, Sykeston, ND), Brandon Judy (wide receiver, senior, Bothell, WA) and Cody Sailer (linebacker, senior, LaMoure, ND).

Four players were named to the Honorable Mention squad: Mark Klug (running back, senior, Dickinson, ND), Ross Lindgren (tackle, junior, Kulm, ND), Ryan Hunt (guard, sophomore, Laurel, MT), and Brian Mistro (safety, senior, Higley, AZ).

Kittell set a DAC record for total offense in a season by averaging 334.5 yards per game. He was the 2007 DAC co-MVP and was named to the first team for the second year. He completed 249 of 395 passes for 2,938 yards, scored 25 touchdowns and had 14 interceptions. He rushed for 407 yards on 120 carries and 5 touchdowns.

Etzold led the team in receptions with 48 and receiving yards with 487. He scored two touchdowns and was third in the DAC in receptions per game with 4.8 and 7th with 48.7 receiving yards per game.

McGovern anchored a Jimmie offensive line which helped JC lead the DAC in scoring offense (33.4 points/game). JC was 2nd in total offense with 451.2 yards per game and second in passign offense with 297.4 yards per game.

Moch recorded 46 tackles, with 13 unassisted from his position at nose guard. He had 2.5 tackles for a loss and 1.5 sacks with one forced fumble.

Erbes led the team with 79 tackles, 30 unassisted. He had 3 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, one interception, two passes broken up and one forced fumble.

Twedt had 59 tackels with 31 unassisted. He had one interception, 9 tackles for loss, and a team-high 5 sacks with one forced fumble.

Nygard led the DAC kickers in scoring with 7 points per game. He was 10-for-10 on field goals and 40-for-41 in PAT kicks.

Jay Tweed rushed for 470 yards on 89 carries. He had six rushing touchdowns and one reception for a TD. Overall, he caught 27 passes for 239 yards.

Judy had 46 catches for 452 yards. He had three touchdowns receptions. He ranked 4th in the DAC in receptions per game with 4.6 and 10 in receiving yards per game with 45.2.

Sailer recorded 61 tackels with 30 unassisted. He had 2 tackles for a loss, 2 interceptions, 2 pass breakups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
