| Who can use the labs? |

| Jamestown College computer labs are for use by Jamestown College students, faculty, and staff only. No one else may use the labs without prior authorization by Computer Services. |

| Are there any rules for using the labs? |
| |
| Yes. The Computer Lab Policies and Rules are: |
- Campus Computer labs are for use by Jamestown College students, faculty, and staff.
- Food and beverages can damage our equipment and are not allowed in the computer labs.
- The first priority for computer lab equipment is instruction and class assignments.
- During busy times, you may be asked to relinquish your computer if you are not doing class work.
- Copying software is illegal. Don't do it.
- We are here to help. If you have any questions or problems, please ask for assistance.
- All users of College computing and networking equipment are expected to adhere to the Information Technology Use Policy (Student Handbook) at all times.

| What kind of computers & equipment are in the labs? |

| Do I have to sign in to use the labs? |
| |
| No. Any JC student, faculty member, or staff member may enter a lab any time there is not a class in session and use any available computer, without signing in. |

| Can I install software on the lab computers? |
| |
| No. |

| Can I save files on the lab computers? |
| |
| No, you may may not save files on the lab computers, they will not be there when you return. The hard drive of a lab computer is locked down and when you log out all changed to the hard drive will be erased. Instead of using the hard drive use your U: (user) drive or the T: (temp) drive. Think of the lab computer hard drives as a place to store files temporarily, while you are working on them, but be sure to move them to your U: drive and/or a disk when you're finished. |

| How do I get a job working in the labs? |

| If you are interested in working in the computer center as a Restech contact the Helpdesk Coordinator, System Administrator. |

| Can I just go in & use the labs? |
| |
| Many of the computer labs are used as classrooms, so be sure you check the schedule posted outside the door before entering. Do NOT enter a lab while a class is in session. |

| Can I print something out in color? |
| |
| If you want to print something in color for a class project, you may bring it to the color printer in the Service Department. You will pay cash for them when you pick them up in Service Department, Taber Hall. |

| Can I hook my laptop up in the labs? |
| |
| If you have a Jamestown College computer account, you may connect your laptop to the network. Your laptop must have a network (Ethernet) card already installed and working, and some additional setup is required. This setup can only be done by Help Desk staff, Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. |

| How do I reserve the labs? |
| |
| To reserve a lab for one-time or occasional use, contact the System Administrator's office at 253-3467x2312. Labs are reserved on a first come, first served basis. If you need to teach an entire course in a lab, contact the Registrar. For a list of labs see . |

| How do I report computer problems in the labs? |

| Please see the Help Desk in Sorkness 105, call the Help Desk, or fill out an Computer Help Desk Request Form. |
