Student Senate Minutes
December 10, 2002
President Penn called the meeting to order at 11:00. Roll was taken and minutes were accepted.
REPORTS:
President: Thanks for those who came to the Christmas party! Tell Amie thanks! No meeting next week. Good luck on finals and have a Merry Christmas.
Constituency Reports: music being played in the Prentice computer lab—talked to Tim Kachel and signs will be put up; wondering why Jamestown police vehicle in service parking—to CIC; complaint of picture in hall of fame is small—to CIC; complaints of band not being in taping for TV; sign for Taber Hall is ugly—probably won’t be changed
Secretary: NTR
Board of Publications: Collegian might be out before Christmas.
COMMITTEES:
Student Activities Committee (SAC): Sunday Dec 15, 10:30pm-12:00am will be Mid “Knight” breakfast and is open to all students. Stress Free Workshop: Dec 17, 5 minute free massages and Dec 18, stress techniques, paraffin wax. There will be free gift wrapping sponsored by SAC in TV lounge on Dec 17 and 18.
Campus Improvement Committee (CIC): Tom is looking into moving some of the smoking stations. Salting and sanding will occur on main traffic areas only. Dr. Stone has not responded about later hours in the library. Candy machine and pop machine will be available soon. Hansen center will be open from 6-11 for use unless there is a team practicing. The sign by Taber needs to be visible, and that’s why it looks that way. There is still no clock in Library D.
Student Union: NTR
Food Service: The summary of the survey results is available.
Carnation Ball: The decorations are ordered and the DJ has been reserved. Students are wondering what to wear since it has a 50’s theme.
Technology: The Prentice Lab may have been unhooked from the network a couple months ago. Students are using the lab and would like it to be hooked up.
Elections: Senator Jones and Sentaor Kuester will be gone next semester. We will need a special election for the junior class.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Hea Kan—there have been some meetings and things are off to a good start. Sandi Bates will allow us to use her pictures from this semester. Jostens will be contacted, and other companies will be looked into. The current Hea Kan will be out next semester. Anyone interested in helping should contact President Penn.
