International Week Feb. 18-22

The Jamestown College Look Beyond Committee and International Student Organization have planned the 28th annual International Week for Feb. 18-23. Events listed below are free and open to the public.

On Monday, Feb. 18, the film “Islamic Art: Mirror of the Invisible World,” will be shown at 7 and again at 9 p.m. in Level Two of the Nafus Student Center. Discussion will follow each screening. The film explores themes such as the word, space, ornament, color and water and presents the stories behind many great masterworks of Islamic art and architecture. The screenings are made possible by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities’ Bridging Cultures Muslim Journeys Bookshelf project awarded to Jamestown College’s Raugust Library and The Arts Center.

On Wednesday, Feb. 20, “Studying Abroad: A French Perspective” will take place at 7 p.m. in room 107 of Lyngstad Hall. Presentations and a question-and-answer session will feature a cross-cultural exploration of living and studying between the French and American cultures, featuring ISEP exchange students Romain Brassart and Lou LeGuelvouit, Jamestown College French major Logan Caldwell, and Kate Stevenson, Associate Professor of French.

On Thursday, Feb. 21, Jamestown College’s weekly Chapel service at 11:05 a.m. will include a Litany of Nations, readings in many languages and brief presentations on the Church from speakers with international stories to share. The service takes place in Voorhees Chapel.

International Student Organization members and Jamestown College faculty and staff will teach dance lessons from various international traditions from 8 to 10 p.m. Thursday in room 123 of the Reiland Fine Arts Center.

A Friday night dance for students brings and end to the week of festivities.
