Collegian competes at Best of the Midwest

Jamestown College’s student newspaper was recognized at the Associated Collegiate Press Best of the Midwest student journalism conference held recently in Minneapolis.

Editor-in-Chief Masaki Ova and the news staff of the Student Media Center received third place for the Feb. 8 edition of The Collegian.

 “I’m very proud of our staff,” Ova says. “This is a collaborative effort, and we worked very hard to improve over the course of the year.”

This was the fifth showing in nine years for The Collegian at ACP’s Best of the Midwest, with two honorable mentions, a third place showing in 2005 and a first place showing in 2011.

“Our goals are to keep improving as a team and to continue to get students involved in the Student Media Center,” Ova says.
