The Jamestown College Faculty Development Center (FDC) was formally established in the fall of 2005 with the financial support of the Bush Foundation.

Jamestown College is a small college located in a rural area of southeastern North Dakota, with limited opportunities for workshop/conference attendance. Currently managed by a director and a faculty development committee, the Center provides developmental services that might otherwise be lacking.

The Center’s goals are to:

1. Provide the faculty access to resources that will assist them in helping students learn and
2. Facilitate and encourage an ongoing conversation at Jamestown College about teaching in a collegial and supportive manner.

Services provided by the Faculty Development Center include:

• Maintaining a web page with links to resources for faculty development;
• Housing a collection of printed materials related to teaching;
• Organizing workshops/seminars on various topics related to teaching as determined by regular surveys of faculty development needs; and
• Providing developmental evaluation tools.
