The city of Jamestown, North Dakota, is the proud hometown of world-renowned writer Louis L'Amour (1908-1988). Through his 116 novels, 400 short stories and a book of poems, Louis L'Amour has endeared himself to his millions of readers in the United States and around the world. He is the only novelist to receive the Congressional Gold Medal and the Medal of Freedom. He is a recipient of North Dakota's Theodore Roosevelt Rough Rider Award.
The Louis L'Amour Heritage Committee of Jamestown, ND is spearheading a drive to convince the US Post Office to issue a commemorative stamp for Louis L'Amour. The Committee members are glad to give the web-surfing public an opportunity to participate in our drive. If you wish to send a letter in support of this project, please send it to:

The committee has printed petition forms for groups to show their collective support for the stamp effort. These petitions have been passed around at service club meetings, retirement homes and neighborhoods and sent in to Washington. You can request a copy of the petition by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to the committee at the Jamestown address above.
