*Weird and Wonderful Sites*
(aka Weird even by Kate's Eclectic Standards)
- The muse hit me while at a local coffee shop and I launched into a
diatribe about the decor. Visit The
History of North Dakota?? -- but please don't squeal on me to the guy
who painted the nasty mural!
- Dare to take the QUIZ that dares to
ask, "Are You a NoDak?"
- If you want even more, surf over to the second QUIZ, the one that
asks, "Are you a German-Russian?" There's a good chance I could get hate
mail for this!
- The D'Adamo
Blood
Type
Diet -- This a strange theory, but I have had a lot of fun guessing
blood types and experimenting with the type A diet for me. This site is
nice in that there is a search function that allows people to search the
beneficial, neutral and contraindicated foods for each blood type by
category. It includes a link to Amazon.com to order the book, which is
spendy. The advantage of the book over this handy list, thought, is that
D'Adamo explains the reasoning and evidence behind his theory of what
blood types mean for diet. And, it's true -- there are lots of theories
in Japan about the connection between blood type and personality -- kind
of like zodiac signs for a Californian!
- Internet
for Cats -- even though this site is a huge advertisement for the book
of same name, it is also charmingly written. All the girls at the house
love it -- Peggy Lee, the adolescent tuxedo kitten; Elsa, the gregarious
tiger who does TV cat tricks; and Fantine, the teutonic grande
dameof the menagerie who bears an odd resemblance to a holstein.
- Peter
Langston's Fun_People List Archive -- a comprehensive listing of funny
stuff appropriate to general audiences. Be sure to check out his Joke Disclaimer
as well. That alone is worth a visit!
- The Farming Game - for years,
my nephew Joe had the FARMING GAME on his Christmas list, but none of us knew
how to locate it. Now it's easy to find via this URL. For the really
nifty extra situations my nephew and his state bank examiner colleagues have
thought up as extra "Farmer's Fate" and "Operating Expenses" cards,
though, you have to contact him! This game has become a family favorite!
-
Gene Ziegler's DIGITAL CLOCKTOWER, where you will find such great
things as his "Grandchild's Guide to Using Grandpa's Computer," done in
the style of Dr. Seuss and "Hang the Information Highwayman!" which shows
his reaction to the stealing of the first poem.
- Pam Kagan's World
Headquarters of Netaholics Anonymous, which includes the sure signs
of 'net addiction and other delightful bits and bytes of cyberworld humor.
- The Center For the Easily
Amused - a site that links to countless amusing and silly sites all
over the web. A guaranteed sink hole for time wasters in cyberspace!
- Patrick
Douglas Crispen's Southern Word Homepage
- Car Talk Homepage - home of Click and Clack, the Tappet brothers
(a.k.a. Tom and Ray Magliozzi), of NPR fame, with links to some really
fine information on car maintenance and repair as well as their weekly
puzzler.
- Dilbert Comic
Strips
- A tourist trap on the info highway by Tacky Tourist Clubs of America
- Coco & Loco - Cat Page Hall of Fame Two Kitties who have taken over their human's computer and have created their own webpage!
