The contemporary business, economic, and financial environments continue to evolve and change. Consequently, individuals and families will be increasingly faced with the challenges, problems, and complexities associated with managing their personal finances and wealth. In addition, as a result of globalization and integration, financial markets grow ever more complicated and volatile, and financial products and instruments continue to expand in their variety and complexity. These changes, combined with periodic changes in tax law, make serious and competent financial planning a necessity. Also, the financial services industry has expanded rapidly over the last decade, and an increasing number of career opportunities are becoming available. The Major in Financial Planning and Wealth Management develops a strong foundation in the techniques and methods that are employed in personal and family financial planning, and provides a sound basis for careers and graduate study in the field.
