Erica Mois continued her strong start to the indoor
track season on Saturday.
Mois, a junior from Frazee, Minn., scored 35 points in the
meet and helped Jamestown College to a 5-1 record in the
Cobber Duals. She won two events
leaping 18 feet, 2 1/4 inches in the long jump and 36-4 1/4
in the triple jump. Both marks were improvements over her
previous national-qualifying season-best efforts.
Mois also placed second in the 55 (7.51 seconds), third in
the 200 (27.21) and eighth in the 55 hurdles (9.22).
For the second straight meet, Michel Maurer won the 800,
running a career-best time of 2:25.17. She also ran the
opening leg of the winning distance medley relay (13:05.2).
Lisa Nayes qualified for nationals in the 1500, running a
strong second-place time of 4:57.71, finishing just .06
seconds behind Concordia’s Lisa Owen. She also anchored the
winning distance medley relay. Nayes is now qualified for the
NAIA Indoor in the 5000, 3000 and 1500.
Tina Wiederrich ran a provisional national qualifying time
of 59.85 to finish second in the 400 and ran a leg on the
winning 1600 relay (4:13.27).
Erin Tuss finished second in the 800 behind Maurer with a
career-best clocking of 2:27.1. Kati Thornton’s PR of 11:11.13
was good for second in the 3000.
Tennille Penn finished third in the weight throw (40-7 1/2)
and Marrie Johnson was third in the 55 (7.56).
“We had a good three days of competition and are looking
forward to getting back to practice now and working on some
things that will help us get even better,” said Jimmie women’s
coach Jim Clark. “Our team came back strong after competing at
Northern and I thought we were a better team today.
“We are not a team with a lot of ‘stars’ but we are a squad
of hard workers getting better and growing in confidence with
each meet.”
The Jimmies compete in the Bison Open on Saturday.
