Erica Mois

By Scott Throlson The Jamestown Sun

It was a record-breaking night for Erica Mois.

The Jamestown College senior from Frazee, Minn., became the school’s all-time leading scorer in women’s track and field by winning four events to help the Jimmies beat Northern State 92-52 in a dual meet at the Barnett Center in Aberdeen, S.D.

Mois came into the dual needing 13 points to break the record, previously held by Carrie Nace (765.5). She came up with victories in the long jump (18-4 1/2), triple jump (36-1 3/4), 50 meters (7.4) and 200 (26.81) to score 20 points, giving her 771.75 points in her Jimmie career.

She posted national-qualifying marks in the long and triple jumps, qualifying for the first time this season in the triple. She posted a personal-best time in the 50 and an indoor-best in the 200.

The Jimmies won 11 of 14 events in the dual to beat the Wolves.

JC had 1-2 finishes in the high jump, long jump, triple jump, pole vault, 400 and 55.

Lisa Nayes won the mile (5:19.4) and the 3000 (10.57.6).

Freshman Sarah Hennek won the 400 (1:01.92), Laura White recorded a provisional qualifying mark of 41-6 in winning the shot put and Marrie Johnson won the pole vault (9-6).

Other Jimmie individual winners were Kari Pankow in the high jump (5-2) and the 1600 relay team (4:15.2).

The Jimmie men also picked up a dual win, going down to the final event in the process.

Jamestown College beat Northern State 3:29.6-3:35.7 to clinch a 76-75 victory. Chris Massey, Sean Iverson, Chris Makoutz and Dan Stoudt combined for the win.

The Jimmies won nine events, including a 1-2-3 finish in the 400, from Stoudt (51.5), Iverson (52.56) and Makoutz (52.96).

Danny Lawson won the long jump (22-4), Nick Tews jumped 43-3 in taking the triple jump and Jeff Konigbagbe won the 55 in 6.56.

Freshman Stephen Strait won the 200 (23.25), Joe Makoutz finished first in the 800 (2:00.4), Curtis Huffman won the 3000 (9:21.9) and Curtis Suver took the mile (4:30.8).

The Jimmies compete in the Cobber Duals on Saturday in Moorhead, Minn.
