Meet Dr. Walentine

Dr. Richard Walentine, Assistant Professor of Music, is the newest member of the Department of Music at Jamestown College. In addition to his applied voice studio, he teaches classes in Diction, Song and Opera Literature, Vocal Pedagogy, and Performance Workshop. A native of Nebraska, Dr. Walentine received his B. A. and M. M. degrees from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he studied with Earl “Pete” Jenkins and Donna Harler-Smith. His D. M. A. studies were completed at the University of Colorado at Boulder as a student of Julie Simson. Prior to joining the faculty at Jamestown College, he served as Director of Opera at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and as adjunct faculty at Hastings College. Dr. Walentine is best known as a sensitive interpreter of French Song, on the stage for his comedic roles, and as an acclaimed interpreter of the patter roles of Gilbert and Sullivan.
